BurdaStyle in Austin : Etsy Crafternoon & Texas Style Council Conference Day 2

Photobooth_large

Well it’s day 2 here in Austin and today the Etsy venue opened up on E. 6th St. and we were there to join in the fun and do some amazing make & take projects! Thanks to the Singer Co. & The Martha Stewart Show how-to on upcycling t-shirts into grocery bags, and our friends over at Threadless, we were able to teach tons of SXSW attendees how to sew!

Here’s some of our favorite photos from the day:

Welcome to the Etsy space at SXSW!

Then tonight we made our way over to BoConcept to for the Texas Style Council Conference pop-up shop and cocktail party for some mingling and shopping. In the meantime, we met some amazing new friends and bought some cacti-saurs!! What’s a cacti-saur? Check out the photos below! ;)

Alicia from Dismount Creative taught everyone how to make a leather business card holder tonight! The PERFECT accessory for all of our meetings at SXSW this week!

This is us and the awesome ladies from ModCloth with our finished projects!

Just when we were about to head home we came upon one of the best non-sewing DIY projects we’ve seen in a long time!! Check out what the awesome folks from Plaid Pigeon spend their days making….Dinosaurs filled with succulents! Needless to say – even though we have to make the trek back to NYC, both Carol and I bought some of our own!

And last but certainly not least, we gotta say, the ladies at the Texas Style Council Conference have some of the greatest footwear in Austin! (What a perfect display of mustache socks!) Stay tuned for more updates this week and don’t forget to come to our DIY Fashion Show tomorrow night at Venue 222 on 6th Street in Austin!
